the Cast of Characters
Kelley: an innocent farm girl who discovers that she is actually a Princess. Raised by the farmer and his horror story of a wife who found her on their doorstep in the midst of a terrible storm when she just a wee baby.
Bronson: a rather hideous gnome, he is Kelley’s guardian and responsible for setting her upon the path of Princess Becoming. Eventually Kelley will marry this horrid little gnome. In spite of his terrifying appearance, Bronson is a complete gentle-gnome and is always looking out for our heroine.
Grismelda: Kelley’s awful step-monster of a mother. She hates everyone and everything, especially Kelley. Fond of tossing her step-daughter into the cellar and leaving her there for long stretches of a time. Pictured in the right hand side of the header above.
Samuel: Kelley’s step-father. Married to the horrible hag, Grismelda. A quiet and patient farmer, he adores his foundling daughter and sadly, is seen no more a few chapters into the History.
Theodora: Kelley’s dearest and closest friend, introduced in chapter 23. A woodland fairy, Theodora is a tiny scrap of a girl but filled with the power to project herself in a muse that causes humans to see her as a typical girl from the countryside. Theodora is able to read Kelley’s mind and thoughts and communicate with her in like. She can be seen to the left of the title in the header.
The History of Soapies is written by Cherie Funderburg, a professional daydreamer. When not writing fantastical tales, she can be found with her nose in a book. A life without books is bleak indeed to our Historian.
The images of the various characters found in the History are drawn by Abbie Sewell. An accomplished chandler, Abbie is also an amazing artist… as her drawings attest!
