So, there frolicked Kelley in the moonlight. Too engrossed in her new-found freedom to realize the danger that was lurking just ahead. As she spun and whirled, hands held above her head, Kelley was unaware that this was coming to a rapid end in 3… 2… 1!
With a shriek of triumphant, the neighbor hag (with strength and agility surprising for one as old as she) leapt from the shadows where she had been lurking and in a single movement tossed a large burlap sack over Kelley’s head and knocked her to the ground. At that point she quickly pulled the bag down around Kelley’s feet and tied it shut.
Kelley screamed silently and kicked and clawed at the sack. To no avail. The hag hefted the sack and dropped it into a nearby wheelbarrow. Cackling to herself, she quickly left the property and headed to the village.
Realizing that kicking was getting her nowhere, Kelley settled down and started to think about other means of escape. A few minutes had gone by before she realized that though she was not yet a full Princess, she *could* make things happen. Grismelda’s headache was just one small example.
With that thought, Kelley stretched her hands towards the bottom of the bag and with a hiss, the rope that had tied it shut came undone and fell to the wheelbarrow bottom. Kelley pushed her feet out of the sack and in the same motion thought “UP.” The hag jumped as Kelley suddenly flew off the wheelbarrow and into the arrow. One little kick and the hag fell to the roadside. Kelley softly touched the ground and was immediately running for home for all she was worth.
A good thing too. Kelley had no idea that the hag knew what she was and had plans to sell her at the midnight black market. Though she was not a full Princess, a Princess Becoming was still worth a LOT of money…
