Wet book in hand, Kelley turned to page one and this time, instead of a blank page, it was filled with text. Thankfully our heroine had learned to read in the few years of schooling she was able to attend before being removed and kept at home to help with the farming. It was difficult being a child back in the late 1700′s!
Kelley eagerly began to read. She soon discovered that this was like a handbook – a handbook for Princesses who are Becoming. Transforming from their mortal girl-selves into the Princesses of power that they will one day become. The book was filled with Do’s and Don’ts. And she was ever so surprised to discover that forced silence was not just required, it was the foundation on which her transformation would be based. Great personal growth can be experienced when one cannot speak…
She read on through the night, at turns fascinated and then angered at the process she was going to be going through. Besides the ability to speak being removed from her, she would also be required to humbly acquiesce to all that was requested of her by her parents. Which brought with it another bombshell — they were NOT HER PARENTS!
For Kelley was no ordinary farm lass. She was born of royalty and had been placed with a human family shortly after birth to help with her worldly education and growth. Every True Princess since the beginning of time has grown up as a member of the human race. It is this that forms the core of Princess grace, dignity, and ultimately, power.
Kelley was gobsmacked. She had never felt like she belonged to this loud and crass family and this revelation set alight a flame inside her that over time would help to burn away her mortal trappings to reveal the Princess.
With a beatific smile, she set the book aside and for the first time in years, slept the sleep of the innocent. JUST KIDDING! This is Kelley we’re talking about – it’s going to take quite some time for this Princess Becoming to learn to hold her temper. And at this moment, she read something that set off her temper to a heights that had yet been unknown. In the book it quite clearly stated that the Princess reading this would, upon her 18th birthday, marry the elf who had gifted it to her. HER? MARRY THAT LITTLE MAN?
Again the poor book flew across the room as Kelley, in a blaze of red-haired fury, screeching loud enough to wake even the very UNdead, stamped down the stairs and out the house.
Oh boy. I wouldn’t have wanted to be the poor creature that happened to catch her eye during this epic outburst. And with that, this brings us to a good closing point. Thankfully in the weeks to come you’ll see that Kelley eventually does learn to hold her temper. Somewhat. Or at least until the subject of marriage and or elves comes up.
